ooc|| Open to all! c:
bic|| An unnerving feeling was prodding at the mind of Chase Williams, though for some bizarre reason, the boy couldn't put a finger on what exactly it was. Truly, it was only the second day back at Hogwarts, the boy was finally in his sixth year. It took a lot of sweat and elbow grease to get here, figuratively. His parents, like so many others, were rather paranoid about the past occurrences, and weren't too pleased about sending their beloved child back to the school where danger so often occurred. But that wasn't what was bothering Chase though, something was really aggravating him.
Was it the fact that the sixth years were already waist deep in homework after a mere three classes? No, Chase was ready to take on that challenge, he'd be through it in a few days time. No, it was that he felt so unprepared after today's potions lesson. Lord, he'd so easily forgotten most of last years work, both of his parents insisted he leave his work until school. And now, and now Chase felt literally screwed, as if he'd flunk most courses. He was taking the steps two at a time up the stone stair case, dodging the trick step out of memory.
This corridor was dead, almost, not a single soul seemed to be wandering besides Chase. It was his second day back and he was heading to the library not to finish his wave of homework but to get ahead. Thankfully as the boy entered the deserted library he found it empty, except the rather lonely looking librarian, of course.
Chase began to scan the shelves, pulling out an array of books solely centered on his upcoming classes. The weight began to slow down his progress, and after finding seven appropriate books, the Ravenclaw took a seat and pulled out his quill and a sheet of parchment. The smell of fresh parchment was bliss, Chase felt back at home as he dipped the gray feathered quill into the liquid black ink, pulling a book open in the process. And the silence, the silence was music to his ears as he started his reading on a variety of new charms.

A letter was tucked into the folds of Madison Harper's book. She'd been back to school for two days. Hardly two days, though. And she had received four letters from her parents. One from each parent each day. Her Mum had repeated told her that it was okay if she wanted to come back. That the house was quite empty without her. Her Dad, on the other hand, told her to ignore her Mother and stay. He'd see her at break And, yes, the house was quiet. But they'd get past that eventually.
Her book bag hung from one shoulder. It was full of books, parchment, quills. She absentmindedly switched shoulders. Rubbing the sore shoulder from the weight of the books. She couldn't believe the difference from fifth year and sixth year. She was already overwhelmed by the homework she'd gotten. She could hardly keep up.
When she arrived in the quiet library, the silence something she wasn't fond of, she slammed her book bag down on a table near the back. This earned her quite a few looks from the people around. She shrugged at them casually, as if it were an apology. She pulled a few books and notes from her bag. Her eyes scanned the list in front her. She talked softly to herself, going over what she needed to get.
"Potions..." She said quietly, hands on hips. She scanned the many shelves. Settling on one a few shelves away. She walked the length, scanning for the book she had in mind. When she spotted it, Madison stood on her very tiptoes reaching for the book. "Almost... got it." She whispered, pulling the book with the very tips of her fingers. "Got it!" Her voice was loud and she earned even more looks. She ignored them this time.
Back at her table, after she scraped her chair and plopped down, her face was buried in a book. She was still talking out loud. Reading every sentence she thought was important. Her other hand was scribbling down notes with her quill.

Sixth years began to flock to the library, and soon, Chase wasn't alone. He didn't truly mind, as long as they could shut their trap and keep to themselves. No, he was perfectly fine here, quite pleased actually. And it was rather evident, for once, seeing he now wore a small smile. Of course, his bliss was shattered by a rather loud thump by the obnoxious girl that had just entered.
It was like Chase to so easily become annoyed by something so simple, but truly. The girl didn't seem to care. She carried about her tasks with a simple shrug, still muttering beneath her breath. Attempting to ignore the girl who shattered his tranquility, he turned back to his work, once more dipping his quill into his full bottle of ink.
"Got it!" Rang through his ears, causing the Ravenclaw to cringe in his seat. He wasn't expecting the sudden surge of noise, it had caused him to scratch a line across his previous work. That girl, she cared only for herself it seemed, she didn't mind the fact she was disrupting the entire library. And no one had the guts to tell her. Well, Chase didn't either, obviously, considering he shook off the girl's behavior and once more attempted to work. He had fixed the thin line of ink across his parchment by whispering a short but handy hex and he was now scanning the page of a new book. It was saying something about the unforgivable curses, but Chase didn't find out much more. His thoughts were once more interrupted by the words of that girl.
"Do you mind?" Chase hissed before he could think, immediately regretting the words. He turned away from the girl, shrinking back into his seat.

Gradually, people started to fill the library. A low whisper filled the library and groups slowly formed. Madison's face was mere inches from the parchment as she scribbled an outline of the essay she was preparing to write. She hardly noticed the words that formed from her lips. She knew she talked while she worked. Yet, when it was done, she hardly even noticed. "Add a pinch of newt's tail.." She said a little loud. She sat up straight with a look of confusion. "Newt's tail?" She ran her finger along the words of the book. "Nope. Newt's eye."
After a few minutes, her forehead rested against the palm of her hand. Her forehead was moist from her concentration. She dreaded the hot weather. She loved when she could wear scarves and gloves. "Stir three times counterclockwise." She said, quickly writing that down. She dipped her quill in her ink once more.
"Do you mind?"
Her head snapped up and she looked in the direction of the voice. She recognized the boy from her year. But, that was about it. She slumped into her seat. A frown crossed her face. She hadn't realized how loud she was being. Her cheeks turned a shade of red from embarrassment. Maybe that's why her friends hardly let her in the library alone. "Sorry." She said, scratching at her head. "I didn't realize I was being so loud. I'll be quiet now." No wonder she was getting such looks.

Hermione Granger walked gracefully and fast down the hallway. She had four books in her shoulder bag and they were getting heavy. Her chocolate brown eyes focused on the hallway in front of her.
Two days into school, they were giving out homework left and right. She smiled, she didn't really mind the homework, it'd given her something productive to do instead of sitting around.
She finally had made it to the library, people were in there already, a few people she'd saw in the hallways occassionally and had know from previous years. Chase Williams, a Ravenclaw boy who usually kept to himself, he was highly intelligent, and cute. She blushed at her own though, and then saw the other girl. Madison Harper, a Hufflepuff girl who was slightly loud, but fun to be around, a very pretty girl and he was somewhat jealous of her looks. She sighed and went and placed her bag on the back of the chair and took out her books, she wandered the book shelf thinking to herself about which piece of homework she'd work on first. Finally all her books were put back and she took out some of the books that she needed.
When she got all her books, she went back to the table and took out her quill, ink and parchment and began to work on her homework.

Chase immediately wanted to stutter an array of apologies but refrained, blushing a light scarlet of his own. It just wasn't like him to lose himself like that, he hadn't expected the girl's reply to be so. So, well, soft. It was a bad way to describe it, Chase knew that, but he had expected her to snap back. Isn't that usually what loud girls tended to do? Still, Chase turned back to his work, blinking at the progress he had made.
"My apologies. It wasn't in my right to snap." It was the most he had spoken all this year, though that really didn't say much. Still, in two days through most students were hoarse from buzzing about with their friends. Still, Chase felt bad for his behavior, and what better way to get the guilt off your chest then to apologize? Anyways, the library was becoming rather crowded, perhaps he should head back to the common room. No, he still had work to do, he hadn't even started History of Magic, let alone Transfiguration. He had his work cut out for him.
Still, Chase, for some odd reason, was unable to persuade himself to start his work once more. Perhaps he should follow the piece of advice his mother wrote in each weekly letter. Well really, it was just one word, but that one word was actually rather difficult for a boy like Chase. Interaction. Who knew just whispering a simple hello could be so difficult? Chase began to tap his quill point on the birch wood table, leaving small dots of ink. He sighed at his foolishness, wiping away the ink with his sleeve. Perhaps he should say hello. To anyone really. He began to tug at the end of his robe sleeve, his brows furrowed.
Perhaps some other time. Chase just couldn't bring himself to do it.

Madison sunk down into her chair once more. She tugged the feather at the end of her quill between her thumb and forefingers. She felt horrible for disrupting his studies. And probably half the libraries as well. She'd have to remember to bring her dear friends with her next time to slap her whenever she started talking to herself. "Maybe I should get that checked out?" She said to herself. Her eyes went wide. She'd done it again.
Madison shook her head clear of her thoughts. She had work to finish. Grabbing her quill, pulling her book and parchment closer, and attempting to scan the page of notes. She resumed writing down about how to stir the potions correctly. Yet, her mind wasn't exactly with her.
"My name's Madison Harper. I'm in Hufflepuff." She blurted, sitting up straight to look across the tables. "But most people just call my Maddy. It's shorter and easier to say." She mentally slapped herself for doing that. Some people just didn't care who she was. Yet, she couldn't seem to grasp that.
She watched, she tried to remember her name, Hermione? That was it. She watched her enter the library and settle herself down quietly. Why couldn't she do that? She stomped through the place like she owned it.
Her smile faded and her gaze dropped back to her parchment. Maybe if she was quiet and looked busy, no one would think it was her.

Tranquility once more, as the girl returned back to her work in silence. Oh, the previous noise was so unsettling, and Chase was pleased to have his quiet once more. He didn't want it to be ruined by his nonsense thoughts, he could care a less if he interacted. His work was important right now, so he picked up his quill and began to resume taking notes.
For a school fanatic, Chase found he didn't have the neatest writing, it was slightly scrawled and he curled every tip to every letter. It was readable, at least, and he found himself scanning over his words. It was strange, really, Chase was allowing himself to get distracted. But he looked back up and he knew why. It was her, the girl he tried to catch the eye of every day. Of course, it was Hermione Granger, best friends with the boy who lived. Chase's eyes darted back his work. Just as he began to look back up, he heard a voice.
"My name's Madison Harper. I'm in Hufflepuff." All Chase could do was blink, prying his eyes away from Hermione and over to the rather loud girl. Was was he supposed to say? She blurted out an introduction out of no where! Well, Chase really didn't want to sound rude. "I'm er.. Chase Williams and I'm in Ravenclaw.?"
He smiled weakly, his brows rising slightly as he looked to the girl who wished to be called Maddy. She had her head ducked, looking down at her parchment. Should Chase had replied? Really, this was what he got in return for speaking. He looked like a complete fool, replying to a girl who didn't seem to care about getting a greeting in return. He sighed, shrinking back into his seat.

Hermione looked over at the boy who'd just apologized, had she missed an earlier incident? She wondered this as she looked at the two sitting pretty much across from each other. She looked over at Chase whom she noticed was, or so she thought, was looking at her as well, a weak smile lit across her face and went back to doing her work.
She looked at Madison when she had started talked to herself, then babbled out an introduction to the boy on the far end of the table. This made her stare in curiosity, because after the introduction Chase just looked confused, but Maddy (as that was what she'd said earlier most people call her) had put her head down, not really looking for a greeting back. She sighed and looked at Chase who still had looked confused, she found herself with a smile upon her face as she went back to writing, dipping her quill in ink and neatly swirling her hand and curving her writing on the paper, every now and again she would stop and look through a book for something, and look over at Chase.

Madison rested her book on the edge of the table, turning the pages rapidly. The end of her feathered quill was in her mouth. The feathers tickling her tongue. Her lips still formed muffled words. Quieter, though. And that's all that mattered to her. Being quiet. Something the obnoxious loud girl would have to get use to if she planned on finishing her school work in the library.
Her hand scratched across the parchment in slanted, sloppy words. She'd rewrite it later when she wasn't in a rush to at least get something down. Besides, she had two other subjects she needed to cover before the next day. With the first day she was having back, she figured her free time was gone.
Her eyes peeked over the top of the book. She hardly expected him to respond to her spontaneous burst of an introduction. I'm in the library for goodness sakes. She thought to herself, shaking her head. No one wanted to strike conversation at this moment.
"Sorry. I'll leave you alone now." She said, flashing a quick apologetic grin. Her gaze returned to the sloppy work laying in front of her. Her foot tapped against the leg of her chair as she tried once more to focus on her work.

Chase was already embarrassed by what he thought to be his display of humiliation and to top that off.. He looked up from his work, his eyes scanning across the library. He was trying to be discreet, of course you never want to seem like you're staring at the girl of your dreams. But as his eyes caught sight of Hermione, he was actually quite surprised. She was looking at him! Hermione Granger, the girl Chase has been trying to muster up the courage to ask out for so many years was looking at him. His heart soared for a few moments until he saw something else.
She was smiling. In Chase's mind, that couldn't have been good. Did she hear his reply and think it was entertaining? He felt his life was ruined. But he was staring straight at her so instead of darting his attention back to his work, he smiled weakly. It couldn't do much more harm, could it? But the voice of Madison Harper prevented him from perhaps embarrassing himself further. But, she was apologizing? Once more, Chase looked bemused, turning to the girl. "It's alright, really." He managed after a long pause, showing his now famous weak smiles.

Madison nodded, just incase he was waiting for a response. She thought best that she didn't respond and leave it at that. He looked hard at word. And she figured she'd bothered him enough for that day.
She slowly found a routine for herself. Read a few sentences in the book quietly She was quite proud of herself for that. Then write a few notes down on what she had read. Hardly would she say a word. And if she did, she could barely hear herself. Madison knew that was something she couldn't really stop. It was hard enough for her to keep quiet even in class. She usually leaned across the table and whispered something to her nearest friend.
When she was finished with her book and read for another, she slammed her book shut. Her parchment flew in all different directions. A string of foul words left her mouth. Earning her a sharp look from Madam Pince. She pushed her chair away and landed on her knees. Grabbing at the parchment and piling it into a neat pile.
Madison slammed the pile onto her desk with a look that could murder. She grabbed the book and returned back to the shelf where she had originally gotten it. Her hands were placed on her hips as she glanced across the titles of the books. She pulled the next book from it's spot and as quiet as she could manage, seated herself once more.
She didn't bother to apologize. Her plan was to quickly finish copying down and come back later. Maybe at dinner so that she was alone.

She had no reply, which frankly, Chase had no problem with. He could resume his work with no distraction, well, except Hermione, that is. He hardly counted the Gryffindor as a distraction though, considering he didn't quite mind glancing up at the girl every few moments. Of course, his eyes would perhaps travel over to her less now, after that display earlier. Still, Chase was fine with the Hufflepuff's choice, and picked up his quill once more to finish his notes. He seemed nearly finished, his lines nice and straight. And then, the sudden noise of a book caused Chase to scrawl another line across his work.
He looked over to the girl, Maddy, who looked rather irked. Why exactly, Chase didn't know. Was she annoyed that he replied to her outburst earlier? It was really paranoia for Chase to think that, but in the pit of his stomach he felt it was true. And as the parchment soared in all different directions, Chase shifted to offer his help. But as Maddy moved, her caught sight of her eyes and immediately faced his work, his eyes fixing on his own parchment. What was that saying? If looks could kill? Chase was actually rather surprised he hadn't fallen out of his seat once he caught sight of her face.
Chase was actually tempted to say something once more, perhaps more politely. "Something wrong?" He mumbled before he could think, though once more he regretted it. He'd probably just get ignored by the girl, she didn't seem too pleased to be talking to him. That was just great, really. So Chase turned back to his work, pulling his Charms book back out of the stack. He began to flip through the pages aimlessly, stopping ever so often to jot a few words down. Best to act like it had never happened, perhaps then people would think it would.

Madison rested her palm against cheek, her elbow on the table. She was barely focusing on her work now. Her quill was scribbling a dark blob in the corner of her parchment. When she was out of ink, she'd quickly dip it into the ink and return to the blob.
Her mood had gone from happy to be back at school to horribly terrible. All because of one little comment from someone who she didn't even know hinting that she was being just a little bit too loud. She didn't even know why it bothered her so much. She hated silent and was always loud. People told her that all the time.
She looked up, expecting to be yelled at. She was being spoken to once more by the Ravenclaw. He was quieter though. It took her a few moment to figure out what he actually said. Then to figure out if she was actually being spoken to this time.
"Nothing is wrong. Does it look like something is wrong?" She hissed in his direction. Of course everything was going wrong in that moment. Her book had slammed, her parchment flew, her chair has made an awful noise against the ground... She didn't even think they made that noise in the library.
She calmed down just a bit. "Nothing is wrong." She repeated once more. Quieter this time. Less snappy. "I'm perfectly fine. Why wouldn't I be?"

Chase began to feel slightly disappointed by the lack of a reply from the girl named Maddy, he really made a fool out of himself again. But still, Chase had to push that aside, he had work to finish. Dinner in the great hall was nearing, and Chase needed to be focused on getting his work done. For some strange reason he wasn't too keen on working in the common room tonight. Perhaps it was because there was another chance of a dorm party until 2 a.m, making it impossible for anyone to sleep, let alone work. Ravenclaws sure did get psyched for the start of another school year at Hogwarts.
Chase was oblivious now to the Hufflepuff near him, he was too busy dreading what was to come tonight. Really, his school work was important to him. How in bloody hell would he wake up tomorrow for class? But then, he was snapped back into reality by the seemingly late reply of Maddy.
Chase once more began to blink, his brows arching in slight amusement. Either she was always snappy looking when nothing was wrong, or she was terrible at hiding her emotions. Either way, Chase wondered if it was his business to help. He watched Maddy, debating whether or not he should speak. What more harm could be done.
"Sorry, just usually when people slam books around and glare at their neighbors that indicates somethings wrong. I guess I was mistaken." A smile flickered at the corner of his lips, sarcasm evident in his voice. Chase was never like this, but silence wouldn't get him anywhere. Plus, he was actually enjoying himself now. His sarcasm might just anger the girl more, though.
