it was the longest break in between classes all day, lunch break. most everyone right now would be found in the great hall or their common rooms eating lunch, studying or just hanging out in general. not riley fox. he never really did what everyone else did during these breaks, he had the most odd tendencies for a slytherin. you could almost always find the blond quidditch player in the library if he was not on the pitch or outside trying to find a place for a smoke break. he had just gone through four cigarettes in twenty minutes though to hold him over for the hour and a half lunch break he would now use to read most of a novel, and then use the last ten or so for another couple chain smoked cigarettes. everyone knew about his bad habits by now, so he didn't bother to hide it too much now, except from the teachers.
now he was flipping his wand around, pulling one book after another out of the shelf trying to decide which one was worth of reading for the next day. he would read half now between classes, and the last of it up in the common room tonight while he was avoiding everyone else. then he would get up the next day, turn in the book, go to class and come lunch time he would repeat the process. the only time that did not work out like that was when he had quidditch practice. he hated how that interrupted everything even though it was his second love to reading. which of course ,was something that no one else in the slytherin house quite understood at all.
when he finally chose one that looked, semi entertaining, he waved his wand at the other books and they flew themselves back onto their shelves. he knew he should be doing homework or studying for OWLS or something, but that really didn't sound like much fun right now. besides, he would probably pass them all anyway, so why did it matter? that's right, to him, it didn't. he could care less if he passed or failed, it just so happened that even with his lack of studying, he always seemed to pass, and with some of the highest grades in his year.
riley did not bother checking books out anymore, the librarian knew that if a book was missing without a name, it was with him, so it didn't really matter too much. he walked to the back of the library where he is rarely bothered, and sat down at a table and started to read the novel. he had a very fast pace for reading books, and he was already about a third of the way into it, when he heard the library doors open and close once more, the first time since he had entered. he did not know who it was, nor did he really care. he heard them rummaging through the book shelves in obvious frustration at not finding what they were looking for. and if he cared a little more he might have helped them because the noise was bothering him.
all that time he never glanced away from the book, though the distracting noises made it continually harder to read and that meant he was reading slower. how could he have so little distraction in the common room, surrounded by the rest of his house, but here the tiniest noises bothered him? when a bag thudded on the table he was at, he rolled his eyes. great, just great, the one who was annoying him to death was the one sitting down at his table. why? didn't everyone by now know that he did not like socializing very much, and didn't they all dislike him? because if you're in the library you are most definitely not a slytherin most likely.
when the person started rummaging through their bag pulling out quills, ink and parchment setting them on the table, he groaned only slightly audibly. he had such the urge to be rude and ask he he could help them or say something to make them leave. but maybe this would become kind of a fun battle of the wits. maybe not. either way, he let them continue, before he finally looked up, his grey green eyes locking on the girl before him, waiting for her to finally take notice that there was someone else at the table.

The girl stalked through the hallways silently brown eyes averted away from people. She'd finished three of the books she'd checked out the other day. It was lunch hour right now so she had time to go do her charms assignment. She walked around the eyes putting books back on the shelves as she walked past them, and pulling out new books that were needed. Her brown hair in her face as she bent over to pick up a book she dropped.
She went over to the lady who checked out books, and gave her the five she wished to look over within the next couple days. She went over to a table which only was preoccupied by one person, she went to the opposite end of the table from him and started fumbling through her bag, making an good (accidental ) amount of noise, searching for her quills, ink and parchment finally pulling them out of her bag.
She took a glance over at the boy who was sitting there, he was glaring at her. She sat down and started taking to her work on charms.
